Dear Colleagues
Re: Understanding addictions…providing comprehensive care ISAM 2008 Cape Town, South Africa Nov 16-20

The unique leadership of South Africa in Medical, Social & Political Sciences as well as Sports Medicine has chosen the beautiful city of Cape Town to host the 2008 ISAM annual meeting from 16th – 20th of November.

Prof. Solomon Rataemane, as the host & Chair of the Local Organizing Committee of ISAM 2008, is leading an outstanding effort to organize the scientific & social program under the slogan of “Understanding Addictions and Providing Comprehensive Care”. The ISAM Board of Directors strongly supports the LOC efforts to enrich the meeting by calling upon all ISAM members; affiliated societies & partner international bodies to participate & support this Cape Town meeting.

We have already received commitments for participation and /or co-sponsorship from our esteemed sister organizations NIDA, NIAAA, EMRO, WHO and WPA.

It is becoming traditionally well known for ISAM to mix its outstanding scientific meetings with the beauty of the social surroundings. I can assure you that Cape Town provides charming; safe & mosaic cultural surroundings.

Plan to join us for this opportunity to exchange ideas and information with colleagues worldwide but in particular with our African colleagues.

Hoping to see you all in Cape Town where we continue learning from each others & sharing experiences in our field of science.

Yours truly,

Dr. Tarek MSA Gawad
President, ISAM
